In a fresh directive, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued stricter visa regulations specifically affecting Nigerian applicants, further tightening entry access for many intending travelers.
According to an official communication from Dubai Visa Processing Centres (DVPC), the new rules—effective immediately—state the following:
🔴 Transit Visas are no longer being processed.
🔴 Nigerian nationals between the ages of 18 and 45 years traveling alone are now ineligible for the tourist visa category.
🔴 Applicants aged 45 years and above must submit a Nigerian personal bank statement spanning six months, with each month’s balance showing no less than $10,000 USD or the naira equivalent.
These changes are part of the UAE’s continued efforts to manage immigration flow and enhance security screening. Sources say that the country is implementing tighter scrutiny on solo travelers, particularly within this age group, due to concerns related to overstay, asylum abuse, and non-compliance with visa conditions.
Travel agents and visa facilitators have been urged to comply fully with these new requirements to avoid rejection or blacklisting of applicants.
This is not the first time the UAE has imposed visa restrictions on Nigerians. In October 2022, the Gulf country halted visa issuance to Nigerians over diplomatic and security concerns. Although certain categories were later reinstated, this recent development signals a continued cautious stance.
Travelers are advised to seek professional visa guidance and ensure they meet the updated financial and eligibility criteria before applying.
