Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a fiery warning to the Rivers State Government, vowing to forcibly gain access to a stadium for political rallies if he is denied its use.
Wike, a former governor of the state, expressed outrage over what he described as attempts to shut him out of public facilities for political activities. According to him, no individual or administration has the authority to prevent him from using public infrastructure funded with taxpayers’ money.
In a strongly worded statement, Wike said he would not hesitate to “break” the stadium open if access is denied, insisting that public spaces must remain open to all political actors, regardless of affiliation or internal party disputes.
The threat has further inflamed political tensions in Rivers State, where power struggles and factional divisions continue to dominate the political landscape. Supporters of the minister view his stance as a bold challenge against political exclusion, while critics argue that such rhetoric could escalate unrest.
