A government-owned university in Ondo State has expelled more than 15 students following findings of serious academic and disciplinary violations.

University authorities said the affected students were found guilty after investigations by relevant committees, in line with the institution’s rules and regulations. The offences reportedly range from examination malpractice to conduct deemed incompatible with acceptable standards within the academic environment.

Management stressed that the decision was not taken lightly, noting that due process was followed before the sanctions were approved. The expulsions, according to the institution, are meant to serve as a deterrent and reinforce its commitment to academic integrity and discipline.

Students and stakeholders have reacted with mixed feelings, as some welcomed the move as necessary to protect the credibility of the institution, while others called for continuous sensitisation to help students avoid actions that could jeopardise their academic future.

The university reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, urging students to uphold ethical standards and focus on their studies to ensure a peaceful and credible learning environment.
