Prominent Nigerian lawmaker and businessman, Senator Ned Nwoko, has stirred public debate after declaring that polygamy offers men greater stability and balance compared to monogamy.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on Sunday, the senator representing Delta North expressed sympathy for men who choose to remain with one wife.
“I feel sorry for those who have one wife. Just imagine standing on one leg — it’s difficult. But with two, three, or four, you’re more balanced. That’s the example I give,”

When asked whether his views conflict with biblical teachings, Nwoko asserted that the Old Testament supports polygamy, emphasizing his faith-based understanding of marriage.
“The Old Testament does. I am a man of faith. But that’s not what we are here for,” he added.
The senator, who is married to four wives, including Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, maintained that he has no regrets about his marital choices.
“No, I don’t have any regret. I would do the same thing again. You should marry who you want to marry,” Nwoko said confidently.
Addressing recent social media allegations suggesting domestic tension and violence in his household, Nwoko dismissed the claims as baseless and malicious.
“I am not a violent person. I respect my wives and love them and my kids,” he stated firmly.
His remarks came shortly after online speculations surfaced following Regina Daniels’ viral post where she showcased a newly acquired mansion with the caption:
“In my house, I am a queen. I needed a roof over my head, so I got this for me and my family.”
The interview has since sparked widespread reactions across social media platforms, with many Nigerians debating cultural, religious, and societal perspectives on polygamy, gender roles, and marital choices.
