The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has issued a stern statement condemning the actions of popular Nigerian musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, following an incident that occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the domestic terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to the press release signed by Mrs. Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, the musician, who was scheduled to board a morning flight to Lagos on ValueJet Airlines (Flight VK 201), allegedly attempted to carry an unidentified liquid substance onboard in violation of established aviation security protocols.
Despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the Flight Captain, the musician reportedly declined to comply. He is said to have spilled the contents of the container, later discovered to be alcohol, on a security officer who requested further clarification. He also resisted intervention attempts from the flight captain and later refused to leave the area even after being asked multiple times.
The situation escalated to the point where AVSEC’s Crime Unit had to escort the musician away for further investigation, although he was released shortly after.
FAAN emphasized its commitment to international aviation safety standards, specifically referencing Nigeria’s NCASP and ICAO Annex 17, which prohibits liquids exceeding 100ml unless medically necessary and declared. The Authority reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for actions that endanger flight safety or compromise operational integrity.
An investigation into the matter is ongoing, with assurances that any party found culpable will face legal consequences.
