INEC Resumes Nationwide Voter Registration Ahead of Upcoming Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially resumed nationwide voter registration, allowing eligible Nigerian citizens to register for the voter database ahead of forthcoming elections. The exercise is part of INEC’s constitutional mandate to maintain an updated and inclusive electoral register, ensuring that all qualified voters have the opportunity to participate in the democratic process.

Registration centres across the country have been activated, with officials ready to assist applicants in completing the required procedures. Prospective voters are encouraged to visit their local INEC offices or designated registration points with necessary identification and documents to have their names entered into the voter register.

INEC emphasised that the exercise is critical for strengthening democracy, enhancing civic participation, and preparing for credible and transparent elections. The commission also pledged to deploy resources and oversight to ensure the process runs smoothly, securely, and in accordance with electoral guidelines.

Citizens are urged to take advantage of the registration window, verify their data, and encourage others to register, as being on the voter list is essential for casting ballots in future elections.
