A group, Imo Transparency Monitors (ITM) has revealed plot by some agents of the Imo state government to attack the premises of the Appeal Court along Portharcourt road, Owerri, the capital of Imo state.

The group made this disclosure while addressing a select Journalists in Owerri on Sunday, accused the Attorney General of Imo State, COC Akolisa, Commissioners for Information, Declan Mbadiwe Emelumba and Transport, Rex Anunobi of mobilizing strange looking persons suspected to be political thugs to destroy Appeal Court structures on Tuesday should government’s bid to secure a vacation order against the earlier Garnishee Order obtained by the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Prince Eze Madumere fails.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Chimezie Anamelechi Esq alleged that the proposed attack was to compel judicial officers to grant the state government an order to set aside the earlier awarded garnishee order against government and Zenith Bank Plc respectively with a view to frustrating the payment of N1.9 billion owed to the erstwhile Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere as his accumulated entitlements.

Anamelechi therefore alleged that the trio of Akolisa, Emelumba and Anunobi were leveraging on the insecurity in Imo state to perpetuate the heinous act, appealing to security agencies to rise to occasion to protect the court premises and its staff.

It can be recalled that following a Garnishee Order granted by the National Industrial Court for the enforcement of the rights and privileges of a former Deputy Governor in the state, Prince Madumere, some agents of the state government were alleged to have mobilized persons suspected to be thugs to arrest and attack some judicial staff for enforcing the order.
