As we all know there is currently a clash in power interest circulating across the National and State level between the ruling party, APC, and the opposition party, PDP. The fact that power would soon be changing hands has led to a lot of Political Crises and power clashes in the Country by a lot of aggrieved party members from these two popular parties. Amongst all these clashes of interests, the most terrific one is that of the Judiciary and Legislature as it seems the Judiciary is suddenly seeking independence from the Legislature and absolute control over the constitutional laws of the nation.
It can be recalled that on Monday, March 7, 2022, the Federal High Court in Abuja barred President Muhammadu Buhari, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), and the Senate President from tampering with the newly amended Electoral Act 2022. The judge in a ruling on an ex-parte application by the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said that the Electoral Act, having become valid law could not be altered without following the due process of law. This has led to unrest and confusion in the Legislature as the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, after trying so hard to swallow what he considered a trespass by the judiciary into legislative business took to his Twitter account to lament on the incident.
