New Chapter for Quality Assurance as SON Council Chairman Is Sworn In

Abuja, Nigeria | February 5, 2026

A new leadership chapter has opened at the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) with the formal inauguration of Yahuza Ado Inuwa as Chairman of its Governing Council.

The inauguration, presided over by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, signals a renewed push to strengthen Nigeria’s standards ecosystem, industrial competitiveness, and consumer protection framework.

In his inaugural address, the newly sworn-in Chairman expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the confidence entrusted to him. He reaffirmed his commitment to aligning SON’s mandate with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in advancing industrial growth and elevating Made-in-Nigeria products on the global stage.

Hon. Inuwa emphasized collaborative leadership, modernization of operations, and strict enforcement of standards, noting that quality assurance remains central to national development. He reiterated SON’s responsibility to protect lives, safeguard consumers, and ensure Nigerian products meet international benchmarks.

Beyond regulation, the Chairman also assured staff of his dedication to improved welfare, motivation, and better working conditions—recognizing human capital as a critical driver of institutional effectiveness.

“Standards are the silent architects of trust. They protect lives, ensure quality, drive industrialization, open doors to international trade, and build national pride,” he stated.

With this inauguration, SON is set on a renewed path marked by digital transformation, stronger stakeholder collaboration, and deeper alignment with global standards—key pillars expected to boost exports and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic revival.
