Two female class teachers, Rukayat Tobiloba, 26 and Lawal Rukayat, 26, have landed in trouble in Lagos State after a 3-year old boy inserted his pencil inside the private part of a 3-year old girl and injured her in the process.

Report shows that they were arrested for negligence.

The incident happened at Great Kezino Nursery and Primary School, Adamu in Ikorodu area of Lagos, where they were employed as class teachers of both the boy and the girl.

According to Police sources, the two teachers came to school on that day and while they were in charge of the class, the boy used his pencil and forcefully penetrated the girl’s private part. The 3-year old girl was said to have bled profusely and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

However, when the parents of the girl were contacted, they held the management responsible and insisted that the teachers, who were in charge of the class were culpable.

The matter was reported to the Police and they were arrested. The teachers were later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over the conduct.

After interrogation, the Police found them culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged assault on the girl owing to their negligence.

They pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Lucky Ihiehie, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Layinka, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till 27th May, 2022, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
